Just read the very last issue of Blue Beetle.
I don't really know what else to say. It's over. It's finished. Unless it gets uncancelled. TELL ME IT GETS UNCANCELLED.
I am going to whimper in a corner now.

They are canceling Blue Beetle.
This cannot be allowed to happen.I WILL MAKE OUT WITH YOU IF I HAVE TO.
It's time to activate super-secret pushy mode. I am tired of all my favorite characters dying or my favorite titles being canceled.

The class that usually gives me a ton of homework gave a lot less than usual, and since I don't have any homework due for the next of the week, I took the day off. Got some writing done, wrote some Nano, got my cds for the exchange ready, read some comics. And now I'm bored. For the past few weeks it's been such a break-neck pace that I don't know what to do with 'free time' now that I have it. The good ol' summer days of watching ten episodes of some tv show in a row are over.
19 460 words. Snippet: “I was an ARTIST.” “I thought you were an archaeologist?” “I was.” “I am very confused.” This is me trying to retcon something without actually contracticting previously established things (because I'd rewrite them, but y'know, Nano).

five stages of grief
1) Convinced Zeal to buy the first Blue Beetle trade (Zeal is my new Nano friend, y'all)
2) Upon hearing his reaction ("Good, but I have no idea what's going on"), I went back to S_D and read Jaime's appearances in Infinite Crisis.
3) Started reading the comments of the first few posts under the Jaime Reyes tag in an attempt to pinpoint when people start to warm up to him. Hint: It didn't take very long. Especially after his series started. Even pre-series he gained fans quickly.
Who's geekier than me right now?Probably only the Shortpacked! guy. Nobody!
I'm at 13 044 words. Here's today's snippet! Nefertum had this great habit of ignoring people. and “That’s why the apostrophe is after the s in Gods’ Senses, even though there are no apostrophes in the ancient Egyptian language.”
Followed shortly by the very first mention of the Fourth Wall, but I'll try not to break it too much. It's very hard to rebuild.

We interrupt this blog for a special geeking out session.
Ahem. This was posted on one of my favorite coms, but I just have to geek out over it all over again.
BLUE BEETLE! JAIME! In a cartoon! And he looks so good! Exclamation mark! (Notice how I'm totally ignoring Batman?)
Oh, and he's gonna be played by the same guy who does Ron Stoppable.
Jaime Reyes makes everything better.

Lj tells me my paid account ran out. Oh well. I just miss my icons...
The new issue of Blue Beetle was utterly and totally badass. It made me geek out. Teen Titans was kinda bad. Reading Proof and Doom Patrol back to back is really head-trippy. Although, reading Doom Patrol is head-trippy anyway.

Holy crap.
Blue Beetle's probably not going to be cancelled! And in the writer's blog he says that the next year will have more arcs rather than one-shot issues (which is one of the problems I had with this year's issues, even though most of them were really cool).
Therefore, I must say this: Even if you don't read western comics, at least try Blue Beetle for me. It needs more sales. I like it, and I can't say everybody will like it, but I haven't met anybody who's read more than one issue after the first six (which are kinda dull, to be honest, but seven is so good! Seven and Eighteen are my favorite issues with characters from outside of Jaime's supporting cast).
If you don't want to buy it before reading it, check these out, here (I think that's the one of the first times I encountered this comic), here. Just a taste.
Thank you. You get a cookie for reading even if you don't care. If BB gets cancelled, all I'll be waiting impatiently for will be Proof and Booster Gold. Since Cable&Deadpool ends at 50 and most of the X-men comics are in crazyness, Spider-man loves Mary Jane hasn't had an issue for almost a year and Teen Titans has the awfulness that is Wonder Girl/Robin. Even if it does have Blue Beetle and Kid Devil in it.

They can't cancel New X-men AND Cable&Deadpool! I might convert to DC, with its Teen Titans, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle.
... And Blue Beetle!
In other news, I beat Zelda: Phantom Hourglass this weekend. It was so good.

ALL MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS DIE. Please beware of subtle spoilers. Or not so subtle spoilers.
Why hello DC, you hate young speedsters, superboys that make robins gay, and blue beetles? Oh and hello Marvel, I know they don't stay dead, but did you have to kill off two of my favorite X-men in a single issue, not to mention what goes on in X-factor and New X-men? And don't think I'm forgetting you, my Montmorency, Pirates of the Carribean, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or other various fandoms. Or M*A*S*H. Poor Henry Blake. Oh well. Least Lupin, Tim Drake, Kid Devil, Cannonball, Luna Lovegood, Faramir, etc etc are still alive.
Spoilers end here.
In other news, I don't care if you don't read comics, or western comics. If you don't read Blue Beetle you're a bloody communist. Jaime just really doesn't want to be a superhero. How can that not be awesome? Well, Runaways too, usually. And Invincible, though that makes me a communist.
And I'm finally gonna get paid! Go me!
