This old lady just wouldn't stop staring at me today when I was on my way home. Swear to god, I was creeped out. This is the second time Old People have stared at me without looking away in recent weeks. I'd ask if it is because of my appearance, but that is probably it. Oh well.

And thanks to a Secret today, I have made a fan comm for Batman: the Brave and the Bold: [info]b_batb, continuing my proud tradition of "If I can't find something, I'll make one for myself". No really. That's why my school had a book club, and that explains about 3/4ths of my fanfics.

108 More Characters to Memorize

  • Mar. 15th, 2009 at 8:23 PM
Say What?
I haven't been feeling the internet lately. Most likely I'm sulking. Over what, I am not entirely sure.

Okay, normally when I cry "WHY DON'T YOU TELL ME THESE THINGS?!" it is usually my fault and I'm just being a large ham. This? My sister has known about this for weeks and she hasn't said a word about it, despite the fact I run a (small, slow, rarely updated - I am a terrible mod) community ([info]108fanarts). And right now I can't afford it. Because I'm behind on my self-imposed budget (long story), not because I actually can't afford it. So I could, theoretically, run out and buy it right now.

But I'm not going to.

No matter how much I am tempted.

Honest.

PS: BLURR. THAT IS ALL.

Miguel and Tulio and Guitar
My paid account ran out. I will miss you, paid account.

So I went to the video store to rent Wonder Woman, but they didn't have it to rent. For some reason (and I have no idea why - god knows) they had to buy even if I couldn't rent it. I forgot my wallet, but Cid came through, and I made the jump.

It was worth it.

It was good! It was funny too. And Wondy was badass. I think it was a really good distillation of the whole Wondy mythos. I don't really feel like going into detail right now. But I would heartily recommend it.

Also! There was a Fantasio related secret today. Arrrrgh.
Awesome Like That
Today I got it into my head to make ratatouille. So, with the help of my dad (who can cook), I made some. Eggplants, Red and yellow peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, onions. Herbs. A little salt. But it's all in how you prepare it! It was delicious, by the way.

And I caught a random episode of Spectacular Spider-man on tv today. I managed to catch it every week, but I finally couldn't keep up anymore (this also happened with Avatar and I - the only reason I keep up with my Live Action tv is when somebody else in my house watches it too). So I watched the episode, and quite enjoyed it. I think Sandman is one of my favorite Spider-villains.
But mostly I was amused by how Eddie Brock referred to the symbiote as "the one I love". Possibly one of my stranger (but totally canon) pairings.

Last but not least, I saw Hulk Vs. Well, Hulk Vs Wolverine, anyway. For the sole purpose of watching Deadpool which was the best part. I love you, Wade.

PS. It has been ages since I've seen the Prince of Egypt. However, I cannot find the dvd.

I Bet There Is Jeeves/Alfred Fanfic Somewhere

Lunch
Currently I am reading PG Wodehouse, Carry On, Jeeves in particular. So far the plot of each chapter seems to be this:

Jeeves: Please do not wear that suit/tie/moustache, sir.
Wooster: I say! It appears that I am/my friend is in a spot of bother. Jeeves!
Jeeves: *solves*
Wooster: Great Scott! That was brilliant. In return, I will not wear this suit/tie/moustache.
Jeeves: Thank you, sir.

In other news, I am pretty much convinced that the makers of Batman: The Brave and the Bold are really big Jaime fans. I just want to see the Reach turn up eventually.

I don't think "What about the poor Horse-Spider?" was something I ever thought I'd think. That last sentence needs work.

Dear Architect,

I am sure you had fun (or at least got paid) working on the subway, but you clearly didn't do your job properly. While I'm sure that having a subway station with an open roof eases up the claustrophobia, lets a little fresh air into the tunnels, and is generally nice during the summer, it's a stupid design the rest of the year. I am not sure where you are from, maybe California or Texas or something, maybe even Vancouver, but in this part of Canada it is generally assumed that we have four seasons (and by four seasons we really mean two: Summer and Winter). Winter usually rolls around every year and it doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon. This year there is Winter, last year there was winter, and there probably will be winter for the next few years until Global Warming catches up at which point we're all screwed anyway. And while your lovely open-ceiling subway station is very nice during the summer, it's REALLY FRIGGIN COLD the rest of the time, and I hope you got shot.

No love,

Somebody Who Has To Wait In The Cold

My class today didn't suck! I was so nervous and now I'm kind of happy. I definitely think my last prof and me didn't mesh well.

Things that would be brilliant: Mike Mignola. Gargoyle Comic. Think about it.

My cat is snoring right now. It is squeekily adorable.

It is so friggin' cold outside.

In Which I Ramble About Cartoons

I'm not Crazy!
Steampunk Transformers would probably be the most amazing thing ever.

No it is not happening. Yes, I want it so bad.

Also, my brain still cannot seem to comprehend that Mark Hamill = Luke Skywalker and Mark Hamill = Joker. I know it to be true. But whenever I hear his voice and think about it, I still can't quite connect the two.

However, Xanatos = Riker makes perfect sense.

Because apparently Batman and Green Arrow's No-Killing rule doesn't count if you're slaying dragons. Who were formerly women. Somewhere, there is Maleficent/Morgan le Fay femslash, if Rule 34 is to be believed.

I had a dream last night where we had a house, and the house could transform into a gigantic robot. Also, there was a wedding. I think I might have been crossdressing again. I mean, in the dreamworld. 'Cause, you know, I never wear Men's Clothing in Real Life. *is currently wearing the shirt for her Riddler costume*

Oh, and I just finished Small Gods. There's nothing like reading three quarters of a book in one sitting that makes me remember that I'm literate. On the other hand, there are no chapters to give me an excuse to stop.

The new doctor's been announced and there's already a wank report. Go figure.

Meanwhile, I found this neat little community called [info]metafandom. I find this sort of discussion absolutely fascinating (it makes me want to write that essay about Transformers animated, especially now that I've seen both seasons so I can actually talk about it). There's a few links they've collected about the recent casting decision of the Avatar movie (as in - "Let's make a decidedly non-European cartoon be a completely whitewashed movie! THIS ISN'T RACIST AT ALL, HONEST. I'm going to agree with the people calling bullshit on this one).

Starscream Is Crazy, Are You?

  • Jan. 2nd, 2009 at 6:50 PM
O RLY? YA RLY!
I finally, finally finished the second season of Transformers Animated.

The Sari thing was spoiled for me. But Starscream is comedy gold. Ahah. Female!Starscream boggles me. Is she the female part of his personality? The competent part of him? I think it's his inner know-it-all or something. But why female? GAH. Oh Starscream, I didn't like you at first but now I love you. ♥

I haven't updated my comic because Christmas threw me off track, sorry.

And I've been spending way too much time with Disgaea DS. Strategy RPGs are so addictive.

We got a new table to go with Freya, and to my surprise, I finally found the second Phoenix Wright while cleaning stuff to make room for it. Maybe now I'll finally be able to finish the Fourth Case.

This Is Why I Love Cartoons

Nightcrawler's Secrets
Sometimes when you watch a show that you remember when you were a kid, it turns out to be terrible. And you really have to admit to yourself that you were kind of expecting that. (See also: Mummies Alive)

Gargoyles isn't like that. I was expecting it to be okay, helped along with nostalgia (like Gummy Bears) - so I watch the first couple of episodes and this stuff is good. Really good. And then I remember why I like cartoons. (Side note: I don't remember Xanatos being so cute.)

Canadian politics: trying to form a coalition government - and nobody cares.

"Should we have tomato sauce or cream sauce with our pasta tonight?" "Can't we have something else for once?" "No." "...Can we have both?"

I finally made myself a William Lyon Mackenzie King icon. I continue making these Mackenzie King jokes and nobody understands them. SIGH.

By the by, Bumblebee, even I could figure out you were wrong about Wasp.

Nanowrimo Day Twenty-Nine

  • Nov. 29th, 2008 at 2:40 PM
*die*
I'm going to be a hobo. Maybe tomorrow I'll wanna settle down, but until tomorrow I'll keep moving on. That's hobo style.

I think I'm unsuited for Reality.

Currently at 48 164 words. I'm hoping to win by the end of the day. Snippet: and overused some parenthesis. I think pointing out my use of parenthesis only makes my overuse of parenthesis even worse. I wonder how many times I can say parenthesis in a paragraph. Parenthesis, parenthesis, parenthesis. Oh, and for normal people, parenthesis are the round brackets. And if you didn’t know that – well, how very illiterate of you. Oh god, I am saying it too.

PS: Rewatching the Legion of Superheroes Cartoon. Brainiac 5 = Gay. And I think everybody's gay, but cartoon!Brainy is really gay.

PPS: For instant hilarity, add "That's hobo style" to the end of things. Like famous movie quotes. "Shaken, not stirred. That's hobo style."

Nanowrimo Day Twenty-Seven

  • Nov. 27th, 2008 at 11:21 PM
Anybody order a serving of Kick-ass?
Crunch time is not the time to watch 9 1/2 episodes of Transformers Animated.

Nor is it time for me to cheat on my novel. But young!Simon turned out so perfect!

Things I like: Women in Armour, parenthesis.

I'm at 45 100 words. Here's your snippet for today: “Exactly! And god knows how many powers you have.” “I have four.” “Four? How did you manage to get four?”. Actually, I think my narrator has more powers, if you include the ability to speak to cats and read lips.

Nanowrimo Day Twenty-Three

  • Nov. 23rd, 2008 at 9:55 PM
Squee!
BRAVE AND THE BOLD, YOU ARE AWESOME. Spoilers! Gorrilas with harpoons riding dinosaurs kidnapping a cruise ship!I love cartoons. But I'm sensing a trend here - Batman's guest star seems to be more interesting than he is! Pllllaaasss, you may be a creepy crinimal perv (and why did Fire only stay for like, two seconds? Talk about Deux Ex Machina) but I love you anyway.

Although, since I tend to like things more often than I dislike things, and I'm especially forgiving to characters, that really isn't saying that much.

My nano is... well, speeding to some sort of conclusion. I can no longer keep track of the characters, but I try. Snippet!
And then I finally realized something that I should have realized before but didn’t. Menzies was absolutely insane. He hid it alright, but his sanity – in the immortal words of the Disney Beauty and the Beast movie – his sanity was only so-so. He was unhinged. He was a few cards short of a full deck. He was most of the lyrics in “I’m going Slightly Mad” by Queen.
I don't think my narrator is the best one to be commenting on other people's sanity or lack thereof.

Nanowrimo Day Fifteen

  • Nov. 15th, 2008 at 5:10 PM
Bink!
I got the first (and only? I don't know) season of Freakazoid! It's like if the Creeper, Animaniacs and the Internet got together and made a baby.

Obligatory Blue Beetle mention of the day! Brave and the Bold aired yesterday. I love cartoons.

My nanowrimo is getting queerer and queerer (in both meanings of the word, winkwink, nudgenudge, say no more). I'm at 24 705 words. Here's a snippet:

“Nobody’s going to threaten Simon York ... on my watch. I didn’t save the world from Nazis so people could get killed by super villains.”

And at that moment, all I could think of was, ‘Arthur Bedivere’s a friggin badass’.

By the way, Arthur Bedivere Fredrickson (who Felix never describes, but for some odd reason I picture him with an eye-patch) is this old retired superhero that beat up Nazis with Excalibur in the Second World War. MY NAMING CONVENTIONS ARE AWESOME, SHUT UP.

Why be sane when you can be insane?

  • Sep. 10th, 2008 at 3:04 PM
Why So Sirius
So somehow I knew about Jack Ryder, and the Creeper, and never knew they were the same person. So while researching this, I found the B:tAS episode "Beware the Creeper". Hee.

I went to my class today only to discover that I didn't have a class today. At 8:30 am. I would be more frustrated, if, y'know, I didn't always wake up before 8:30. But I'm not actually used to going anywhere at that time. *complaining for no good reason*

I want to write a story with this crazy old lady as the main character. Just sayin'.

Last but not least, according to FUBAR: Soldier Slang of WWII, the Japanese nicknamed a Type 1 toxic gas hand grenade "chibi" (although I know enough about Japanese to know its probably spelled differently). There was a little part of me that really wanted to draw a chibi Chibi. Also, I want to draw Wolverine shooting a wolverine.

Why is fandom so weird?

  • Sep. 9th, 2008 at 1:24 PM
Oh my GOD
Kim Possible gives you... the background lesbian!

Also, 'Stop Team-Go' is an awesome episode. But it makes me want to watch the episode with surprisingly competent evil!Ron.

PS: Firefox has developed this weird habit of closing whenever I change my mood. Not cool.

Nine episodes in. So far, there have been two female transformers, with distinct similarities.
