Well, I've had tendonitis most of the year, so I've been trying to avoid the internet. My wrists are finally getting better so I can type and play video games again! for ten minutes at a time.

What interesting things happened to you guys while I was gone?

Things that happened to me this year (second half):
- I almost failed illustration
- I got pretty good in my Comics class though
- I went to a funeral
- I missed video games a ton
- I saw a ton of televison and movies
- I created at least three new stories and worked on a few older ones
- I made a neat series of paintings
- I discovered the wonders of local craft and fashion
- My sisters went to new and exciting places! I stayed home and went to class.

Tendonitis very slowly getting better.

Things I have done in past week:

- 'rescued' Woodpecker (northern flicker) (quotations because it didn't exactly survive)
- Met deaf puppy (adorable)
- saw Star Trek again
- Infuriated Sister
- Watched some Supernatural (don't ask), TNG, Leverage, Veronica Mars and half an episode of Smallville (I really should just skip all the bits that don't have a Luthor on screen)
- Caught up on Batman: The Brave and the Bold
- Discovered I like record players
- Had a dream involving LittleBigPlanet and a really scary spider
- Picked up new issues of Booster Gold and Secret six. Really good.

I haven't been as active lately because typing wears down my wrists the fastest.

Books, loverly books

Extensive Reading
Here's the thing. I've officially finished classes. I finished Screnzy too.

Now I have absolutely nothing to do.

SO.

Recommend me books! Anything. That's right, anything. Just name the book, give a brief description and why you like it and I'll love you all for ever.

Cheers!

Almost there... almost there...

Tomorrow I have an exam. Then I have to clean my sister's room before she gets back and finds out a metaphorical hurricane went through it.

THEN I AM FREE FREE MY GOD I WILL BE FREE MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA *coughcough*

So I finished the 100 pages required for Script Frenzy. Maybe it's just me, but Screnzy 10x easier than Nano. ALSO. My comic involves robots and moving plushie unicorns and cops named after alloys. Oh Brass. Oh Steel. Oh Nambe. You are all so awesome. But mostly it is about a bunch of superheroes standing around going "What?"

Yes, I am avoiding studying. How are you?

This old lady just wouldn't stop staring at me today when I was on my way home. Swear to god, I was creeped out. This is the second time Old People have stared at me without looking away in recent weeks. I'd ask if it is because of my appearance, but that is probably it. Oh well.

And thanks to a Secret today, I have made a fan comm for Batman: the Brave and the Bold: [info]b_batb, continuing my proud tradition of "If I can't find something, I'll make one for myself". No really. That's why my school had a book club, and that explains about 3/4ths of my fanfics.

Goodbye M&M alarm clock, I'll miss you

I like getting up to the radio. I hate the buzzer with a passion. My alarm/clock radio suddenly decided that if I didn't like getting up to "Are you human, or are you dancer?" it better not work at all. Which is depressing, because I like my alarm clock. It has the m&m guys on the display and a big red snooze button and the dials look like the candy m&ms.

ANYWAY.

That's why I'm up an hour late. I'm very particular about my hours of operation and do not appreciate them not working.
Say What?
Is it just me or was the newest episode of Chuck kinda... gay? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I swear, that boy has chemistry with everybody that moves.

Also, I don't even watch Lost and I got the joke.

I kinda went and read all the scanalated volumes of Yankee-kun to Megane-chan. Oops. It starts off slow but it really picks up once it adds more characters.

PS: I found my wallet, yay!

Why I Read Comic Books

Squee!
I've had a bad day.

I had a headache for most of it. I couldn't pick up my comics because I lost my wallet. And, well, I lost my wallet. I spent most of it painting. On something I redid twice.

But I firmly believe in equivalent exchange, or karma, or whatever. So if life is going sucky, it always throws me a bone.

I AM SO HAPPY, YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA.

Dear internet: Do not go to art school if you want to be lazy. Go to art school if you want to work your butt off and spend all your money on paint with no social life.

Say what you want about old retired hippies, but they know their goddamn stuff. Listening to them talk about the power of protest? And knowing what they lived through?

That, m'dears, is why the world looks so different now.

I need to get my act together.

I don't think "What about the poor Horse-Spider?" was something I ever thought I'd think. That last sentence needs work.

Dear Architect,

I am sure you had fun (or at least got paid) working on the subway, but you clearly didn't do your job properly. While I'm sure that having a subway station with an open roof eases up the claustrophobia, lets a little fresh air into the tunnels, and is generally nice during the summer, it's a stupid design the rest of the year. I am not sure where you are from, maybe California or Texas or something, maybe even Vancouver, but in this part of Canada it is generally assumed that we have four seasons (and by four seasons we really mean two: Summer and Winter). Winter usually rolls around every year and it doesn't look like it's stopping anytime soon. This year there is Winter, last year there was winter, and there probably will be winter for the next few years until Global Warming catches up at which point we're all screwed anyway. And while your lovely open-ceiling subway station is very nice during the summer, it's REALLY FRIGGIN COLD the rest of the time, and I hope you got shot.

No love,

Somebody Who Has To Wait In The Cold

I have writers' block. And I don't really feel like working on art. This is troublesome, but not altogether unsurprising.

I was contemplating, earlier, my speech patterns, as well as my style of writing. I really don't have anything more to add, since I forgot what I was saying. CURSE YOU, AUTOSAVE DRAFT.

Anyway. I already have a Blue Beetle action figure, but I still want this. I like toys, okay?

A Bad Move
Sometimes I think that songs should be titled after whatever their most ear-wormy lyric is. For example, the "Yellow Submarine" is doing this right. But the new weirdo Killers song should really be titled "Dancer" instead of "Human". Or possibly "Are you Dancer?", at least then it would be truth in advertising. And yes, I only say this so that I can look up the song immediately rather than taking a roundabout way involving looking for lyrics to find out the song title.

My ability to spill paint, drop things, and cause general destruction in Drawing class is seriously becoming a bother. At least I just dropped the water and not the pallet. Last semester I spilled half my ink twice in a roll. SIGH. Although, the other day I broke a plate by dropping a glass on it, so maybe it's just me.

I think I did discover today that I like Dramatic Sprinting. I'm perfecting the art of sliding sideways to go around corners. DRAMATICALLY sliding sideways.

I'm posting this from my brand new Desktop (I've named it Freya - to continue my Chobits theme naming) which is Very Cool. I bought it to go with the printer Da got us (to be fair, the Printer apparently was more expensive than the computer).

I got my second-eldest sister the first dvd for the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It is very strange. I like it.

G. is here, he's - I dunno. I don't get it. He seems nice though.

Ten Days is actually pretty good, really

  • Dec. 22nd, 2008 at 1:35 PM
Say What?
Ten days. My sisters lasted ten days before getting into an argument. It was good while it lasted. On the other hand, B left this morning for a brief trip before Christmas, so hopefully it'll jump start the countdown for long enough for us to survive Christmas.

Note: Complain as I want about their arguing, I have to admit that usually I just make things worse if I try to end it.

I am finding my comic more and more difficult to do on a Page-Per-Day basis. However, I have gone on for long enough that I'm still doing pages, so that's a good thing. I think the next time I try to do a webcomic I'll try for every two days. ANYWAY. Today's comic is up. Or maybe it's yesterdays? I don't know. In which some damage is actually dealt, maybe.

Nanowrimo Day Twelve

Blue Beetle
They are canceling Blue Beetle.

This cannot be allowed to happen. I WILL MAKE OUT WITH YOU IF I HAVE TO.

It's time to activate super-secret pushy mode. I am tired of all my favorite characters dying or my favorite titles being canceled.

--

The class that usually gives me a ton of homework gave a lot less than usual, and since I don't have any homework due for the next of the week, I took the day off. Got some writing done, wrote some Nano, got my cds for the exchange ready, read some comics. And now I'm bored. For the past few weeks it's been such a break-neck pace that I don't know what to do with 'free time' now that I have it. The good ol' summer days of watching ten episodes of some tv show in a row are over.

19 460 words. Snippet: “I was an ARTIST.” “I thought you were an archaeologist?” “I was.” “I am very confused.” This is me trying to retcon something without actually contracticting previously established things (because I'd rewrite them, but y'know, Nano).

How gross is that?

Horatio!
I bought my birthday present from my grandparents today. Ah, Hellboy hardcover volume 1, you are so pretty.

And I finally got B's present in the mail! My birthday is officially over.

Odd things kept on happening near/to me today. For example, I saw a man picking his nose on the subway. I saw another man ride by on a skateboard, wearing a very large backpack, accompanied by two dogs. It was very strange.

Isn't that a nice thing to say?

Blush
So I used the "Look! A distraction!" trick today and it actually worked. Boggles the mind!

And somebody said he thought I was "sharp" (as in smart). I was pleased. Then I ruined it when I tried to tell K about it in a really stupid way.

I can actually leave through the front door! That sentence won't make any sense to anybody but me.

Are these strange things to think about?

  • Oct. 23rd, 2008 at 8:30 AM
Canada
Saw a man feeding pigeons outside the police station yesterday. He seemed to be more impressed by the seagulls. I thought it was strange, since most of the birds in that area are pigeons and sparrows, not seagulls.

Did all that studying just pay off?

  • Oct. 21st, 2008 at 8:43 PM
Are you f*cking serious? Siriusly?
Class ended early today so I'm watching House. Lesbians!

And I got the marks back from my Anatomy Midterm I had this morning (yeah, they emailed us the results real fast). About ten percentish over the class average! Booyah.

Self esteem levels: higher than they usually are on a tuesday.

B's birthday present: Still hasn't arrived.

Nano: Almost ready to start cooking.

Oh Paul Gross, why are you so Canadian?

  • Oct. 17th, 2008 at 9:30 PM
Canada
I just got back from Passchendaele (I can't believe I actually spelled that right). It was good. There were a few awkward bits, and a couple of bits where I was just "That isn't symbolic at all" (read: sarcasm), but it was still good.

On the way home, me and Cid were talking about WWI and how it impacted war, when I saw these boxes out for recycling. You know the ones that people put on the curb? Sometimes they put out... other stuff (I have a photograph of a ton of stuff I saw one day including a couch and a classic baby carriage), and this one had two potted plants. I stop, pick it up, and take it with me. It's on my table right now. I don't even know what it is. But it's healthy, with no apparent reason for it to be thrown out. I am a little surprised at myself for taking it home, but I don't regret it.
