And am getting very tired of Villa Savoye

  • Jun. 27th, 2009 at 9:26 AM
Bink!
So when my Carpal Tunnel wouldn't go away after two weeks, the doctor gave me another round of pills and scheduled an appointment with the hospital at the neurology department.

Between the scheduling of the appointment and the actual appointment, the carpal tunnel went away (I still have Tendonitis though, and am getting rather worried about it).

They tested my nerves by giving little electrical shocks to the nerves in my arm, and the static would continue down them making my fingers twitch involuntarily. They did this at multiple points and it felt Very Strange.

Also, my summer course is almost over, I have read several books (including a bunch of Sharpe novels, the new Tamora Pierce book, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrel, and Moribito), watched a season and a few episodes of R2 of Code Geass, completely failed to find Blackadder the Fourth, and designed my own fictional culture.

So, how are you guys doing?

Tendonitis very slowly getting better.

Things I have done in past week:

- 'rescued' Woodpecker (northern flicker) (quotations because it didn't exactly survive)
- Met deaf puppy (adorable)
- saw Star Trek again
- Infuriated Sister
- Watched some Supernatural (don't ask), TNG, Leverage, Veronica Mars and half an episode of Smallville (I really should just skip all the bits that don't have a Luthor on screen)
- Caught up on Batman: The Brave and the Bold
- Discovered I like record players
- Had a dream involving LittleBigPlanet and a really scary spider
- Picked up new issues of Booster Gold and Secret six. Really good.

I haven't been as active lately because typing wears down my wrists the fastest.
OWNED
So I thought that when Legion of Superheroes got canceled shortly after me starting to watch it, it was a coincidence. Sure, a lot of my comics have gotten canceled, or changed into new, distressing forms - New X-men, Blue Beetle, Cable & Deadpool, Adjectiveless X-men, Blue Beetle, Teen Titans (technically not canceled, but under McKeever's writing)...

And sure, the season after I finally started watching Stargate: Atlantis was the last one. And to be fair, Veronica Mars and Dead Like Me were already done for by the time I started watching them. Heroes isn't canceled! Just - changed into new and distressing forms (though I have started watching it now that it's getting good again).

But this is just ridiculous.

Being Sick: Day Two

  • Feb. 19th, 2009 at 11:44 AM
Well that was nice
Found season two of Stargate: Atlantis, so watched Duet and Runner (in that order). There's nothing like a little McKay, Beckett and Ronon first thing in the morning. Now I just need to watch a Sheppard and Todd episode and a Weir episode and I'll be set. But I can't seem to find my dvd for the third season (which is the best overall, in my opinion). Le Sigh.

I also went and re-read Montmorency. Well, the first one. I love that one. The others... I don't know. I'm going to re-read them too, but I always liked the first one the best. For people who have never read Montmorency! (AKA almost everyone) It's set in Victorian England and is about this man who wants to restart his life after almost getting killed committing a crime. So he gets this plan for some ingenious robberies, and sets up a dual identity. Montmorency, the gentleman, and Scarper, the thief. There are lots of Secret Identity shenanigans and he falls in love with Opera.

Bored sick person is resisting the urge to spam her friends' lists. Also resisting the urge to run about TvTropes to add Montmorency examples everywhere.

EDIT: Stole a meme from [info]starry_arte. Give me a fandom and a pairing or character(s), as well as a number between 1 and 999. This number will correspond to a song on my playlist that will serve as the prompt for your fic.

Note, however, that I don't actually have 999 songs on my playlist, so let's say 1 - 50 and call it even.

Bored with a Headache

Miguel and Tulio and Guitar
So I'm sick. And rather miserable, though I feel better than I did this morning (but that's not saying much).

When I'm sick, I tend to watch comfort movies. So I watched the Road to El Dorado, which I've been thinking about since a few of my New Friends are fans. I love that movie so much. ♥ I haven't seen it in a while though.

And Sky High, which I also love, even if it is corny and predictable (but being predictable only matters the first time).

Ah! But I saw the latest episode of Leverage as well. Just now. I guess it's the end of season one? Luckily, they've announced Season Two. I like Leverage, but working on Leverage is what I guess to be the reason John Rogers isn't doing comics right now. I have very mixed feelings about that.

Got Transformers Animated Season 1Too

  • Feb. 7th, 2009 at 9:25 PM
Embarrasing
I got a volume of Princess Tutu today, and was all excited because I thought I'd finally finished my collection. I get home, open it, go to put it in my dvd player, all excited to finally watch the Femio episode again and - hey wait? Femio was season two. Disc three is season one. It was volume 4 I was missing, not 3.

I am an idiot.

In other news, I got no work done today, but I did more about Wales than I ever knew before.

Am I the only one who wants to see a Jonathan Coulton - Weird Al collaboration?

Is it just me or was the newest episode of Chuck kinda... gay? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I swear, that boy has chemistry with everybody that moves.

Also, I don't even watch Lost and I got the joke.

I kinda went and read all the scanalated volumes of Yankee-kun to Megane-chan. Oops. It starts off slow but it really picks up once it adds more characters.

PS: I found my wallet, yay!

Pas de deux, Arthur?

  • Jan. 31st, 2009 at 10:18 AM
Still the Prettiest!
It's been a while since I've painted with watercolours, and I've just realized I never really understood how. Well.

In other news, I finally started watching Merlin again. I think I just didn't like the episode that I left off in (the one with the dude with the snake!shield), so I skipped it. The next episode was much better. Merlin and Gwen are so cute. Ah. But Arthur and Merlin are cute together too. Grarh. I am thinking that maybe it'll end up the same way Princess Tutu did, with an OT4. Okay, and now I'm imagining a Princess Tutu-Merlin crossover... Now I'm just imagining Merlin dancing ballet... Sometimes, my brain goes to strange places.

For the love of - - AGAIN?

House on God
I think my radio has a sense of humour.

Werewolves are just so cute! I love them (this is what happens when you introduce a Lupin fan to the Buffy episode "Phases"). I've been watching Buffy with my dad, who surprisingly enjoys it.

I bought some surprisingly expensive paint today, but I don't have time to exchange it before class tomorrow. I'm sorry! I didn't realize how much it added up to! Luckily, it is supposed to be really good quality (I'm talking Golden, by the way).

What the hell?
Dammit, radio! Stop waking me up with "Human"! What does "Are we human, or are we dancer?" even MEAN anyway? God, when I first heard the lyrics (somebody told them to me) I thought it was some song by some girly J-pop group trying to sing in English and instead they ended up with badly pronounced Engrish translated by Babelfish. And now I have it stuck in my head, which is hilarious in a trainwreck sort of way. It is catchy, however.

On the subject of music, I realized yesterday that despite the subject matter, "Suicide is Painless" never fails to cheer me up. Oh M*A*S*H, I love you. That was the best scene in the Movie, by the way. The game of life is hard to play...

Random note! There doesn't seem to be any parents in Woosterverse. Just aunts. And the occasional uncle or cousin.

In Which I Ramble About Cartoons

I'm not Crazy!
Steampunk Transformers would probably be the most amazing thing ever.

No it is not happening. Yes, I want it so bad.

Also, my brain still cannot seem to comprehend that Mark Hamill = Luke Skywalker and Mark Hamill = Joker. I know it to be true. But whenever I hear his voice and think about it, I still can't quite connect the two.

However, Xanatos = Riker makes perfect sense.

The new doctor's been announced and there's already a wank report. Go figure.

Meanwhile, I found this neat little community called [info]metafandom. I find this sort of discussion absolutely fascinating (it makes me want to write that essay about Transformers animated, especially now that I've seen both seasons so I can actually talk about it). There's a few links they've collected about the recent casting decision of the Avatar movie (as in - "Let's make a decidedly non-European cartoon be a completely whitewashed movie! THIS ISN'T RACIST AT ALL, HONEST. I'm going to agree with the people calling bullshit on this one).

Because Seraphina is a Girl's Name

Why So Sirius
I was watching Merlin today. It's... odd? I just have to put all my knowledge of Arthurian Legends into a little box in my brain and pretend that all they share are the names and I'm free to enjoy the show. I do enjoy it, though. But note that I also never claim to have high standards.

Zeal linked me to Gunnerkrigg Court. It seems like a fun webcomic. Okay, so I read eight chapters after finding it... I do like it.

I updated my comic twice again. To be fair, I drew this morning's comic last night, but did the speech bubbles this morning. ANYWAY. One name down... Two names down... And there! Everybody is finally named.

Dear Lj, please stop messing with my tags. It is annoying. Thank you, me.

Zangetsu's Shoes
So I bought my sister's Christmas present today, and I wasn't sure if she'd like it or not - then I met her for lunch and she mentioned how much she wanted it. I was trying very hard to keep a straight face.

...I hope she doesn't read my lj.

Live action Hana-Kimi is making me want to read the manga again. I barely remember anything, but then again, that was a couple of years ago.

I updated my comic twice today! Somebody un-gag him already! Somebody gag these two!

Nanowrimo Day Twenty-Four

  • Nov. 24th, 2008 at 8:59 PM
Well that was nice
Forty thousand BOOYAH! I've never gotten forty-thousand within the month before! And the month isn't even over yet! I am so excited, you guys!

Meanwhile, I've been um, Boostle fangirling all day.

Heroes is getting sidetracked like crazy, and it just started ten seconds ago. It actually kinda reminds me of my nano novel, except I don't have the pretense of you know, trying to have it make sense? I think I'd rather work on my homework than watch Heroes. And I'm the queen of procastination.

Or at the very least, continue re-reading Booster Gold.

Nanowrimo Day Fifteen

Bink!
I got the first (and only? I don't know) season of Freakazoid! It's like if the Creeper, Animaniacs and the Internet got together and made a baby.

Obligatory Blue Beetle mention of the day! Brave and the Bold aired yesterday. I love cartoons.

My nanowrimo is getting queerer and queerer (in both meanings of the word, winkwink, nudgenudge, say no more). I'm at 24 705 words. Here's a snippet:

“Nobody’s going to threaten Simon York ... on my watch. I didn’t save the world from Nazis so people could get killed by super villains.”

And at that moment, all I could think of was, ‘Arthur Bedivere’s a friggin badass’.

By the way, Arthur Bedivere Fredrickson (who Felix never describes, but for some odd reason I picture him with an eye-patch) is this old retired superhero that beat up Nazis with Excalibur in the Second World War. MY NAMING CONVENTIONS ARE AWESOME, SHUT UP.

SO. I finally finished watching the pilot of the Middleman (when did I start it? A month ago?) and watched the first half of the second episode. There's only so long I can watch stupid internet quality, guys!

I went back through my 'comics' tag, and found this, and now I kind of want to write a crackfic. Argh, when did I start writing fanfiction? ... Okay, it was a while ago, but still.

I reached 20000ish words last night, and today I got to 22000ish words. Give me a BOOYAH!
Short snippet: “Oh, that’s great, blame it on me! At least I’m not dead!” “Low blow, low blow. Way to pull out the Deceased card.”

Did all that studying just pay off?

  • Oct. 21st, 2008 at 8:43 PM
Are you f*cking serious? Siriusly?
Class ended early today so I'm watching House. Lesbians!

And I got the marks back from my Anatomy Midterm I had this morning (yeah, they emailed us the results real fast). About ten percentish over the class average! Booyah.

Self esteem levels: higher than they usually are on a tuesday.

B's birthday present: Still hasn't arrived.

Nano: Almost ready to start cooking.

Shouldn't I be working right now?

  • Oct. 16th, 2008 at 1:00 PM
Easily Distracted
Watching the pilot episode of The Middleman. It's delightfully strange and kinda campy. I like it.

My anatomy textbook is still probably one of the most dull things I've ever needed to read a good deal of in the next four days. Cripes. And I don't have a model for my assignment for tomorrow until tonight. Also not cool. I haven't reached full-on panic mode yet, but I probably will in a few hours.
